Now available at Maxfield: RICK OWENS FURNITURE.

“Mine is a Brutalist fur on a Brutalist rock next to a Brutalist fire in a Brutalist cave.” His collection includes 15 “shamelessly big” pieces created from materials like black plywood, 500,000-year-old petrified bark and alabaster.

“Making furniture is my version of couture: it’s time-consuming artisanal work made in limited quantities in rare materials, customized for my favorite client, my better half, the Hun,” Mr. Owens said, referring to his wife, Michele Lamy. Prices start at about $10,000 but the Boudeuse couch, above is $78,750).

Happiness can come in cotton too.

Is this week over?

A routine trip to the dentist became a 3 cavity ordeal. The first cavities I have ever had. A CT scan for a sinus headache I have had for a month. A minor fender bender with a parked car. A last minute scramble for taxes and it is only Thursday.

What is this? Karma payback for calling someone fat?

I take it back. Please world, be a bit kinder on me.

I am gearing up for summer travels, watching my spending money although I am aching to mend my broken self with some retail therapy. Shoes always make me feel better. But with Costa Rica two weeks away, an Aruba wedding, Detroit and not to mention the necessary visits to Europe in June and August - I am pondering how I will ever be able to afford new shoes or clothes along with the price of airline tickets.

Last week I went to Maxfields... I had a gift card before you laugh at my attempts to save money. I walked in wanting Rick Owens and I walked out owning Rick Owens. Sunburn Halter in Black. Not a leather jacket but happiness can come in cotton too.

Cubannie Links!

I like to party. Some would say too hard, some would say just enough and some would say not enough.

It is a hard, cold realization that it isn’t always a good idea to wear the CL’s out because 5 inch stilettos aren’t great for 10 hours of dancing or that a new Rick Owens white blouse attracts cranberry juice more than an urinary tract infection. Long pearl necklaces get caught on something and die, rings mysteriously fall off of fingers and handbags and phones disappear, fall in wetness, or are attacked by dirt.

Im still guilty of trying and usually failing some beautiful pieces.

For balance, my wardrobe consists of some fun accessories and jewelry that haven’t cost more than an Angeleno child’s tuition. It’s always great to find quality, quirky costume jewelry that don’t look like you bought them from Claire’s at the Galleria Mall. (Upstate New York reference)

Thanks to Sommer, who lent me her favorite new boutique in J-town, Love Number A - I found Cubannie Links.

“Cubannie Links is an independently owned, home based jewelry collection best known for unconventional jewelry and light weight "big earrings". Launched in 2007, what began as a hobby has now evolved into individual high craftmanship jewelry pieces and can be seen on celebrities and fashionistas alike. A hint of eras past is found in the CL collection, but new forward thinking and mindfulness of what "THAT GIRL" desires is key to CL's sucsess. Founder & Designer Annie Basulto has been getting amazing notoriety as being one of the new fresh designers on the Streetwear scene.”

Her jewelry includes over-sized bow rings, glass chains, and hidden tool earrings. I’ve already bought all three so don’t copy me. You can find her site here.

Sharp lines, angles, and cuts gets me every time. An expert in outwear, Owens transformed down-filled garb into sleek wraps, designed metallic biker jackets long and short that clung to his models in all the right places and reinvented the hoodie - reminiscent of futuristic villains' guise. Underneath there were layered asymmetrical skirts with pieces strategically placed for perfection. Fur accents, leathers and triangle print leggings were out in full force.

Gorgeous, I am in love.

Do you hear wedding bells?

I’m getting married!!!!

To my dog.

Day 4 - Dasha is off at Obedience School and I don’t know how much longer I can take. 10 more days away from that beautiful FACE?! So, when she returns I will marry her, since marriage keeps your partner by your side forever...

I know, this is a horrible leap from bestiality to wedding dresses but yesterday Net-A-Porter launched their bridal boutique. Carrying, of course, wedding dresses, veils, accessories, shoes, bags, jewelry, lingerie and even bridesmaids and mother of the bride dresses. Designers such as Temperley London, Lanvin, Vivienne Westwood, Chole and Rick Owens would make any bride squeal unless she was a dog.

The selection is small and the styles vary but it is their second day. Something to watch or keep in mind if wedding bells are in the future. Net-A-Porter Bridal Shop
