Classy Clasps

Jenuine West - Monday, August 01, 2011
I took a "Me" Weekend. Friday I visited Sarah and Caile at John Frieda for some color and cutting. Saturday, I attempted to sleep in but was awoken by Andrei leaving me (to go to Chicago for a gig) and the sounds of construction down the street. I picked up some supplies for some DIY's downtown and stayed in most of the weekend except for a quick trip to the farmer's market and a nice brunch with a Rosebud.

So I attempted a new version of the DIY I did a week or so back. I mentioned in my post here that I wasn't fond of the way the bracelet was closed aka knots in the leather. The knots came loose and some of them didn't stay at all. So I followed the same instructions but used a leather closure and a toggle clasp. See original idea and instructions at honestlywtf.com.

Toggle Clasp, leather cord ends and the tool that binds it all together.

Put the leather cord into the hole...

Wrap the linen cord 5 times and then begin to wrap the crystal strand.

Measure out the length by testing it on your wrist and when it is long enough cut the strand and wrap the linen cord 5 times. I like to knot it once too.

Now take the leather cord end and close it up.

Now attach the toggle to the leather cord end.

Now make more.

For me, taking the knot out and putting on an easy closure makes it more wearable and also a gift giving option.
