Banksy is visiting.

Jenuine West - Thursday, February 17, 2011
Nominated for an Academy Award, Exit Through The Gift Shop, Bansky must be in town.

This billboard on Sunset and Laurel was sans crack mouse on Sunday night but last night it was displayed in it's full glory.

Charlie Brown was also found on an abandoned building in Los Angeles.

I wonder how long the billboard art will be kept up...

Fairfax and Santa Monica

I was driving a different way into work this morning and I saw this sticker on a sign and took a picture of it with my new nails that I got did yesterday.

But I deleted the picture on accident. So I recreated it at work. I am feeling immature today - seeing sluts made me laugh.

The new nail polish is OPI Shatter.. It is from Katy Perry's collaboration with OPI and for the record I just like the shatter nailpolish not anything to do with her shit music.

Pick a base color: gold, silver, shimmery - Let it dry and then paint the shatter nailpolish over it sealing it with a top coat. I like.

Asian invasion.

Jenuine West - Tuesday, February 15, 2011
NPR did a piece on New York Fashion Week. They surmised that the Asians were taking the fashion world by storm and I have to agree. Alexander Wang, Jason Wu, Phillip Lim, Richard Chai - all amazing designers, all Asian and all showing at New York Fashion Week.

Wang, a favorite of mine showed this past weekend. Staying true to his tough girl image and his deconstructed originals on basics, he increased his bar for luxury by adding mink covered sunglasses, boyfriends ponchos and shredded satin skirts.

Valentine's Day is...

Jenuine West - Tuesday, February 15, 2011
for ?

Restaurants and Florists to make a profit on men scrambling for an original idea and ending up with a prix fixe menu and a bouquet of flowers.

I am the type of woman that will say Valentine's Day isn't a big day.

But you better recognize the day in some form or I will get mad.

Tricky, how that works...

I ended up making dinner for Andrei - scallops with black caviar, mashed potatoes and green beans. He picked up a beautiful bouquet of lilies, a DVD of The Nanny and a heart shaped cake from Sweet Lady Janes. I took him Saturday to pick out a pair of jeans at American Rag. A week or so ago he gifted me a beautiful black diamond ring set amongst white diamonds. It sparkles, it makes me smile and that's the end of my story.

Hope you had a nice and relaxed Valentine's Day too.

BRAIDS!

Jenuine West - Wednesday, February 09, 2011
I remember when my mother was pregnant with my brother and was bed ridden for 9 months. Daddy worked from home. He wore the apron, he helped us with our homework, he took us to school, band, ballet, gymnastics, karate... he was Mr. Mom. He was always involved in our daily lives but for those nine months he did everything. Unfortunately, this included braiding my long black hair. His braid would already be loose by the time I got to school. Maybe he was worried about hurting his pumpkin's scalp, unlike my mother's tight braids that made me dizzy.

Since then, I haven't worn braids. Well, that is a lie - I had cornrows when I was seventeen. But since then, then - I haven't.

Daily Candy sends their emails riddled with promotions paid by salons, spas, stores and restaurants around the LA area and recently focused on NINE|ZERO|ONE Salon in West Hollywood. A braid bar!

$25 for just the braid. $40 for a wash and a braid. $100 for a wash, blow dry and braid. They have several styles to choose from and you are in and out super fast.

I did Around the World. It lasted for 2 1/2 days and I loved it.

PS. I just went there for braids. I still love Caile and Sarah at Serge Normant John Frieda. I'd never cheat.

Gucci (insert baby talk)

While I was in Tokyo I picked up several mice coin purses at Opening Ceremony. I have one left so it prevents me from buying these:

I know, I am a sucker. I'd probably gift it anyways but they are so cute.

My favorite is the pig. oink!

FACE MASK TIME!!!!!!

Jenuine West - Thursday, February 03, 2011
My love, Rachel is getting married to a wonderful man in May. We are getting ready for her Bachelorette party in March. No penis straws, inflatable penises, strippers of any sex, shirts with candy glued to them, fake veils, flashing pins, or any of the various tacky "I'm getting married, look at me" paraphernalia will be present.

Fresh off a gmail chat and excited, we decided that we needed to do something special in terms of attire, for her last celebration of singledom or funeral of fun. ;) We concluded that all participants must wear a hat or a mask. Lulu and I will bring supplies from the west and east coast so that we can assemble our accessories together. Arts & crafts coupled with excessive drinking always turns out perfect.

Recently Vouge celebrated their 90th Anniversary with a Masquerade ball. The masks and outfits were stunning. I have decided to do a lace mask for her party. Now I just need the end of March to get here faster.

My favorite of the night:
Vogue Nippon’s Anna Dello Russo dressed in Emilo Pucci gown and Gareth Pugh headpiece.

Vanity Fair HOLLYWOOD 2011

Jenuine West - Wednesday, February 02, 2011
I try not to contribute to the overload of celebrity content on the internet but I am in love with Vanity Fair's new spread.

Just like last year, many say there are not enough races within the spread. I say deal with it. The word fair is in their title and I am sure it alludes to fair skinned not equality. Why aren't their fair skinned models on the cover of Ebony?

Proenza Schouler Jewerly 2011

What do you think? Colorful... Different. I think.

$125 - 150. Not too bad... but it would be a better DIY project then a go out and buy project.
