Green GROWING Jewelry!

Jenuine West - Wednesday, May 26, 2010
Green this, Green that. Going Green is the new black. I am not that green but I love these. Growing Jewelry!

Growing Jewelry is a redefinition of modern values. It is a clash of jewelry and gardening; couture and organism. The collection of this hand jewelry is designed for people in metropolitan cities and is an experiment in drawing nature toward man, as nature being the presupposition of life.

Designed by Hafsteinn Juliusson http://hafsteinnjuliusson.com/ Handmade in Iceland, all pieces are made out of silver. There are growing rings, growing necklaces, and special request growing knuckles and a 2 finger ring. They all run about 150 Euros and up.

Growing Jewelry requires watering but only once every 5 weeks. It may look like grass but it is really moss and can last for up to 8 to 12 months.

House Arrest

Jenuine West - Thursday, May 20, 2010
I don’t know anyone in their right mind who would want to be like Lindsay Lohan. But it has been rumored that the Chanel Ankle Bracelet/Wristlet from Spring 2008 was made in homage of some female celebrities that had to don the real thing back in 2007. While offbeat, this piece in my opinion is super smart. For the female who loves to dance, loses their handbag, or is tired of putting their handbag in the DJ booth, this is the perfect accessory. Worn on the ankle or on the wrist, with a smart pair of heels - you can’t go wrong. It fits your id, money and lipstick. What else do you need for a night out? Or a day out? Or a night that turns into a day?

Since it is semi-vintage circa 2008, the original price was around $1200, you can find it now for around $600. I found it in my friend’s closet and am borrowing it for this weekend. Who knows if she will get it back...

Just kidding, SP. :)

A small absence but never stopped shopping...

Jenuine West - Wednesday, May 19, 2010
Work and life has swallowed me up for the past week or so explaining my absence from the world wide web.

As for the retail section of this site, I’ve decided that we can’t go live till July. At first we were just waiting on a few more pieces from a jewelry designer and since we still don’t have them and its already the late part of May - it will need to wait till July. You may be asking yourself: Did she forget about June? Remember that month: June? Well I am counting my blessings for being able to go abroad for most of June into July. But that means I wont be in Los Angeles and wont be able to manage the Retail site properly.

And even though I haven’t posted in the past ten days, it doesn’t mean I have stopped shopping.

Newest arrival - Henry Holland for Pretty Polly Super Suspender Tights.

Last’s seasons collaboration between Henry Holland and Pretty Polly. I am in love with them. They really wake up a black mini and do they look sexy on a bare pair of legs? Yes. I originally saw them on Seven New York for $40 but when I placed my order they were still waiting for a shipment. Due to my lack of patience, I found them on a UK site, My Tights (for HALF the price) and bought them immediately. Get them here.

I also found them on ASOS.

Even with shipping you save money buying from My Tights or ASOS. My Tights was also a great find. Their selection of Hosiery is ridiculous - they range from different prints, colors, sheer shorts, cute socks and more. It is a good find if you detest trying to find good tights in department stores. The only catch is that you have to wait a couple more days than the usual shipping process.

This piece will be arriving tomorrow...

I feel a little guilty about this one. A girlfriend was on the hunt for the Lonely Heart Cut Out Bra. Sold out online, I told her I would do some investigation. After going to their site http://lonelyheartslabel.swappler.com/ and checking out their Stockists, I was pleasantly surprised to see Love No A. I contacted Alana, the owner of No.A, http://www.number-a.com/ who in my opinion is a star. (She has also helped me in the past to get out of stock items in less than 48 hours... re: Cubannie Links Bow Rings after mine had disappeared... since they were such a hit, I ordered 3 after the first one was lost) Anyways, Alana had never carried the bra but contacted the designer and was able to get the last xs there was. My girlfriend needed a small but they were sold out and being the mean person I am, I still took the xs. HK, forgive me. It finally arrives tomorrow, I’ll let you know how it fits. Good news, if you have the patience, most places will restock this item by the end of summer.

Where are all the Lucite Heels?

Jenuine West - Friday, May 07, 2010
For the past two months I have been obsessed with finding a pump with Lucite heel, maybe even a boot. Chloe did one last winter season but it is sold out.

My obsession started with this:

Junko Shimada, a Japanese designer, does amazing garments and footwear. http://www.junkoshimada.com/ Unfortunately I have not been able to see any of her pieces in real life. But I plan on visiting her boutique this June in Paris.

I am still at a loss here. I have no Lucite heeled pumps to grace my feet and the weather is getting warmer. I’ve searched high and low and the best I came up with is these Prada satin pumps with heels...

I am luke warm to them. Marc Jacobs and Michael Kors also have a few pumps in Lucite but I am not a fan. HELP! Any ideas?!

Sex and the City 2

Jenuine West - Thursday, May 06, 2010
Sex and the City 2 is upon us... Soon the day will come where girls and women will strut into the movie theater wearing their Manolos, Diors or Louboutins. For me, the story line is less appealing than the fashion that will flash on the big screen.  While Dubai and Aidan are very intriguing, it doesn’t interest me as much as Dior newspaper dress or the pieces they will wear while in the Middle East.

The first Sex and the City pushed along the popularity of Dior’s Gladiator Pump along with Manolo Blahnik’s Hangisi in Royal Blue. (Which are still available at Barney’s)

Just taking a peak at some of the set pictures the fashion includes lavender Brian Atwood Purple Loca Studded pumps, YSL Trib Too Pumps, nude Christian Louboutin Glitter Pumps, Christian Louboutin lace booties, Christian Louboutin Gino T Strap, Halston Heritage pieces, and Mykita sunglasses...

Not that you are interested but some of the outfits are still attainable...

Atwood’s heels are sold out on net-a-porter but will be restocked soon - they are going for $800.

The nude Christian Louboutin Glitter pumps are almost gone but can still be found on Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf online for $595 - limited sizes are available but they do come in Fuscia. This white Halston Heritage Stretch Jersey V-neck is available at Nemian Marcus and Net-A-Porter for $325.

CL’s Gino T Straps were available at Saks Fith Avenue online but are sold out - some stores may still have them. This blue Halston Heritage Metallic Strip Dress is available at Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdales for $435.

While I will covet some pieces from the movie, I don’t have it in me to replicate an entire outfit for it’s gaudy factor. Still, I am in possession of the nude Christian Louboutin Glitter pumps and they make me happy. See anything you want?

Knock it off, Knock-offs!

Jenuine West - Monday, May 03, 2010
Generally, I do not believe in knock-offs. Toting a fake Prada or Louis Vuitton doesn’t interest me. If you buy a knock off its obvious that you aren’t enjoying the handbag for the handbag but for what it looks like on your shoulder. Why lie? Let’s face it, we buy designer items to be seen. But I’d like to hope most of us buy designer items because we recognize what designers like Prada and Louis Vuitton have done for fashion and the quality that comes along with these names. There are times that I wear my Chanel bag backwards so the label isn’t seen. I don’t want to look like a label whore... I am more a label baby prostitute.

But now more than ever, there are knock-offs for everything. Fake Christian Louboutin shoes, fake Alexander McQueen Scarves, fake Handbags galore... It can be quite overwhelming to see the shoes or handbag you covet with all your heart for $300... but one MUST resist. And I do.

The day I wear a shoe with a fake red sole or a fake handbag touches my shoulder is the day that I have three babies, marriage, and a minivan.

But there are times when I see something that I absolutely need or my death would result. Just like last week. I saw these.

A collaboration between Linda Farrow and Jeremy Scott. Flip-up sunglasses to the sides for the ultimate Minnie Mouse look. I wasn’t the only one who wanted these. They are sold out everywhere and not even listed on the Linda Farrow or Opening Ceremony website. What to do... what to do... Even if they were available, with a price tag of $450 for what I consider a fun party accessory is a bit too much. So I did some searching on the web. I found a bunch of knock-offs but all in different colors: red, purple, green. I don’t do color. (Usually) After some research I found a black pair. The difference: the first lens is clear while the real lens are tinted black. Difference in price: $430 So, I ordered them. Do I feel bad? nope. If someone asks me if they are the Linda Farrow with Jeremy Scott Minnie Mouse glasses, will I push my lips together and squint down at them as if I am overall a much better person than they are? Maybe Ill squint at them since I am Korean but I could not tell a lie. I’d happily fill them in on all of the above. I just wouldn't tell them where I exactly found them for $20.
